These 3 books provide direct practice in the rules of grammar and enable pupils to use a range of punctuation correctly. First Stop covers the first, basic elements of punctuation: capital letters and full stops, uses of capitalisation and question marks. It is excellent for younger pupils and those with special needs and is suitable for a wide age range. Vocabulary is limited and the motivating tasks can be completed independently. Stop it! comprises a practical, ready- made supply of punctuation exercises and covers use of full stops, capital letters, apostrophes, speech marks etc. Stop it, Editor! covers similar areas to Stop it! but in a more editorial style. This book is full of tasks pupils enjoy, such as finding mistakes, marking and correcting texts. It is perfect to use alongside Stop it! as it consolidates skills using a different approach.
First 32 Words is ideal for beginner readers who need extra help when learning the very first words. It provides additional worksheets aimed at those who need more practice and smaller steps. The sheets deal with the 32 words children need to learn first. They work well on a screen for class/group work or can be used as paper worksheets. A book called First 100 Words is also available. The sheets were designed to accompany the Froggy Match-it phonics app, but can be used by any children just beginning to learn phonics. The pdf consists of 10 worksheets. Pages 1 to 4 use 11 letters only: the letters most phonics schemes teach first.
These 12 sheets offer English work with a Christmas theme for Primary School children and those with Special Needs. 4 of the sheets deal with rhyming words. The other 8 focus on the morphological principles of word construction, e.g. plurals with -s and -ies, past tense with -ed and the past tense of common irregular verbs.
